Is CBD Safe for Dogs?

It’s important to know that the FDA has not approved any CBD products for animals. This means it’s the wild west out there, and most products are NOT tested for safety, purity or effectiveness. To combat this, it’s best practice to buy from small local companies who are transparent about ingredients and testing, and be very cautious of any company making unverified claims. SOSS™ products are locally sourced, tested numerous times during the production process and are made specifically for animals using 0.0% THC formula.  THC is toxic for animals even in small amounts.MO

CBD Products for Pets:

There are a few ways to give your dog CBD, including oils, treats, and topicals. We strongly recommend using CBD oil directly into the dog’s mouth and oral membranes. This is MUCH more effective than eating a “treat” and forcing the compound  through their digestive system. It is also the easiest and most reliable method to control dosing.  Onset is also much quicker.  If your dog resists, you can have them lick the oil out of your hand or an empty bowl.

CBD for Dogs vs. Humans:

Most CBD products are not suitable for pets. Full spectrum CBD, which is generally more beneficial for humans, might contain harmful ingredients for animals and is not recommended for dogs. For this reason, you should always choose an isolate based pet-specific product and follow your vet’s advice on dosage.

Dog CBD Dosage:

Finding the ideal CBD for your pet is best achieved with some experimentation. Our three products are based on your dog’s size, which is an excellent starting point, but there are other factors.  Your vet can recommend a starting dose, but you will likely need to adjust based in your pets’ reactions.  The good news is CBD is non-toxic, so there is no harmful overdose, but taking too much will lead to lethargy and perhaps stomach or bowel discomfort.
